UBC Gymnastics offers recreational gymnastics classes for participants aged 9 months to adult.

Bouncin Babies (9 – 24 months)
This program will help encourage development using movement, song, social interaction and by providing a safe space to explore in. Participants will be introduced to new shapes, colours, textures, songs and movement patterns. This is also a great place for parents to meet each other and discuss the challenges and joys of being a parent. Classes are 30 minutes long.
Parent & Tot (18 months – 3 years)
This class is intended for children ages 18 months to 3 years old, and is 45 minutes in duration. The Parent & Tot class is a fun-filled introduction for you and your child to gymnastics and movement education. Music, hand-held equipment (balls, hoops, ribbons) and some free gym exploration time enhances your experience in the gym. Instructors will guide you and your child through exciting circuits throughout the gymnastics gym.
Preschool (3-4 years)
This class is intended for children ages 3-4, and is 45 minutes in duration. The Preschool class is for those children ready to be on their own and explore the various pieces of gymnastics equipment. Music and hand-held equipment (balls, hoops, ribbons) will enhance your child’s experience. By working on fundamental gymnastic movements and activities, your child will have an opportunity to develop agility, strength, coordination, flexibility and self-confidence in a safe, supportive and fun environment.
Gym Kids 1 ( 5-6 years)
Gym Kids 2 ( 6-7 years)
Gym Kids 3 ( 8-10 years)
Children develop fundamental gymnastic and movement skills through a variety of games and activities. Our fun and interactive class uses all the equipment in the gym, as well as music and hand-held equipment to enhance their learning experience. Children develop agility, strength, coordination, flexibility and self-confidence in a safe, supportive and fun environment.
Excel 1 (6-10 years)
Excel 2 (7-12 years)
Excel 3 (8-14 years)
The Excel Program is designed for children ages 6-14 who love to learn, are intrinsically motivated, and who love doing gymnastics. Diligence, listening skills, and previous gymnastics experience are required. Children must be interviewed for eligibility, please call our registration office for more information. Classes are 2 hours in duration.
The Excel Program is divided into three levels: Excel 1, 2 & 3, based on both age and ability. At all levels, the focus will be on learning skills with good form and technique while improving strength, flexibility and body awareness with conditioning drills. Children will continue to improve basic gymnastics skills while learning the following skills at each level:
- In Excel 1, children are learning skills such as roundoffs, handstand rolls, walkovers, pullovers and hack hip circles.
- In Excel 2, children are learning skills such as handsprings, front tucks, and long swing pullovers.
- In Excel 3, children are combining skills into tumbling lines, learning front and back saltos, kips on bars, and walkovers on beam.
Trampoline & Tumbling (6-14 years)
This program is intended for children ages 8 to 14. Participants develop skills on the trampoline, mini trampoline and spring floor in a fun and safe environment. The trampoline and tumbling program is divided into three levels: beginner, intermediate and advanced.
Children must be interviewed to determine eligibility for the intermediate and advanced trampoline & tumbling, please call our registration office for more information.
Teen (11-14 & 15-18 years)
This class is intended for youth ages 11 to 18, and is two hours in duration. The Teen Gym is a fun and social gymnastics class for teens of all skill levels. Physical activity, strength, coordination, flexibility, and goal setting are just some of the many components of this program. By working on fundamental gymnastic movements and activities, your child will have an opportunity to develop and improve their overall agility, strength, coordination, flexibility and self-confidence in a safe, supportive and fun environment.
High school students have the opportunity to compete for their high schools in the BC high school provincial program.
Adult (18+ years)
Our Adult Gymnastics class is perfect for those who want to improve their strength and flexibility, and work on basic gymnastics skills. Gymnastics is a great way to stay in shape, and improve your overall coordination. This class is two hours long, and no previous experience
